Based on the above, I am concluding that helmets are indeed worth it. It will protect you from dying to most guns in the game except the big rifles. It's my guess that most engagements in DayZ are at 0m - 100m, and it's in this range that you will get the most protection from most guns. The exception to this, of course, is the ghillie hood.Yes you're right. Rotten food items (excluding meats) are poisonous which causes the chemical poisoning sickness if you eat a lot of them in a short time. Eating just one fruit is harmless even if you eat it in one go. The poison will disappear from your body in a couple of minutes. The same applies to burned food.Silent kill. Though that tends to damage blades quite rapidly. Pitchfork seems to be the most effective, still can one shot infected if you go for the head. If you can lure them near a window (using voice or making other noise) that is also pretty safe way how to get rid of them.
