There is nothing wrong with having a 16 in your primary stat, your character will still be effective, but optimancers will suggest you try to get your dexterity to an 18. As a magus you are inherently going to do damage, all you need to do is hit with your spellstrike.So in this way, the "Ancient" heritage is a genetic one.
